There is certainly much reason to celebrate Daddy at our house every year. John is such a patient teacher, great listener, and knows the importance of stopping and making time for the little things. We didn’t make big plans for the day but took time to try to spoil Daddy. We made a special ice cream sandwich cake and his favorite dish for lunch. Last night Carlie Jane, Donny, and I were waiting in the car while John ran through the rain to open the house for us. Carlie said, “Daddy is the best in the world isn’t he, Mummy? He takes such good care of us. See him taking care of us?” They don’t always say it, but they know the difference. Such a serious reminder every day of what I say and how I say it. Children won’t grow up to be what you tell them, they will be what you are.
Time for a morning story on the porch. All the Beatrix Potter books we read over and over but just now The Tail of Timmy Tiptoes is Carlie’s favorite. We can hear her reciting it from her bed in the evening.
Some cinnamon bread for the Father’s Day breakfast at church.
I saw John reading a story to Carlie and Donny and noticed Donny and John were doing the same thing with their arm. Donny wasn’t even looking at John and trying to mimic.
Talking with Daddy.
The cake was so easy to make and tasted delicious.
