Carlie and Donny got a new step stool and were trying to learn how to share it. I came in to find they had found the perfect solution.
After about a week of digging and replanting sod, digging out trees and roots, and moving dirt we have the area cleared and this weekend we worked on framing up the sides.
Removing the stump and roots from along the driveway.
Carlie and Donny love helping out and we try to make it fun for them when we can too. They have their own little shovels to help and keep reminding us of their great contribution with, “Look, I helping. I a good worker just like you like.”
We don’t drink a lot of sweet tea but on days we are doing a lot of hard work in the heat I try to make some for a treat. I love making sun tea and watching how fast if steeps.
Carlie stepped on a bee in the grass and we had to stop to nurse her foot a little. Look how concerned Donny looks. He kept asking, “You ok. Carlie?”
John came up with a mastermind plan on how to frame up the driveway to be sure it will be flat and slope just right. It is just genius but it isn’t easy.
It fascinated me to watch how John bent these boards to make the edge just the shape he wanted.
We have several more weeks before we plan to have the driveway poured and much more work to be done. We work at it a little everyday and hope to have if finished by the end of September before the weather cools off.
Every time I am out with the children someone asks, “Are they twins? They look just alike.” It’s hard for me to see how they look alike usually but I can see it clearly in this picture.
