Wind Cave National Park   |   July 24, 2017

It was Donnie’s third birthday and we tried to make it an extra special day.

It’s difficult to take pictures in a cave and make them look like anything interesting, especially when the cave itself has no large rooms. This particular cave’s claim to fame comes from the air trapped within creating a pressure differential that can be felt as wind at its small mouth. The dry cave also boasts box work instead of stalagmites and stalactites that can be found in a wet cave.

The Indians knew of this cave but they never tried to enter it. Instead they made up a story about its breathing and considered it a sacred site.

This is what the ranger called box work.
